Just saw this photo in the critique corner of #True-Macro.


nice detail on the head even if you could have put a higher f number to get a larger area of sharpness. You could also have framed it a bit more on the left to avoid cropping the 2nd antenna.

Pretty big ant if that's only 5x. Of course I have a bigish screen....

Anyway, wonderful shot. You usually only see this level of detail for smaller insects in SEM [link] shots.

Great bokke, slight softness on the edges of it's head give a tender feel and the DOF is perfect to bring out the detail of it's eyes and fine hairs.

Would you mind letting me know what lens setup you used? Was it the newer 65mm Macro 1-5x?

not new..been out over 5 years..its called canon mpe-65
