This is not as simple as he makes it look.
This photo is amazing. I have some practice trying to get a moths eye in focus like this with no luck. So I'm always floored by how many shots come finished like this with flawless focus when it is really a pain to get. Every little hair is more detail added onto the alien like eye.
One of my favorite things about this shot is the way the light bounces off it's eye and shows 2 small rainbows. The eye is also not perfectly round and the odd shape makes it more attention grabbing.

Beautiful, I don't understand how anyone can say a butterfly close up is scary or ugly. The hair looks so soft in this shoot.

it was cold and early..about 6am ish.i think?any way i had the butterfly on my left finger while i rested my lens on my left hand..got the angle i needed then started shooting..the track is to shoot them in the morning when its to cold for them to fly away.helps having a reat flash and macro lens as well.
